Metered trips can change with the route actually driven, low-speed or stopped time, requested stops and the specific taxi company. TaxiRates labels an estimate separately from an official fixed fare.

TaxiRates identifies the pickup market first, then applies the current regulated framework to the live road route. For a Region 4 pickup, the result is a low/high planning range derived from the Board’s flag and five-kilometre band; the operator’s authorized meter, actual route and qualifying time charges control the final fare.

Using a taxi in West Kelowna: what to know before you ride.
West Kelowna is governed by Region 4 Rule 3 rather than Kelowna’s separate standardized-rate rule. Operators can use Board-authorized meter settings under the regional framework, and qualifying pre-existing rates may remain during Rule 3 transition periods. TaxiRates therefore uses the Region 4 planning range for West Kelowna-origin trips.

No. Unless TaxiRates identifies an official fixed fare, a metered result is an estimate. The physical meter or provider-approved pricing controls the actual taxi fare.
Does a private black car use the taxi meter?
No. A pre-booked black car or limousine is a separate service category. Any sponsored private-transfer price is displayed separately and does not affect the taxi calculation.
Where do these B.C. rates come from?
TaxiRates uses the current B.C. Passenger Transportation Board rate rule that applies to the pickup. For Region 4, Rule 3 sets the regulated band and also contains transition provisions for qualifying pre-existing licensees.

TaxiRates reviewed the current B.C. Passenger Transportation Board Rule 3 framework for West Kelowna on September 25, 2026. The public operator-rate list is marked updated December 2025, while Region 4 moved to rate bands in 2026, so TaxiRates uses the current regulated framework rather than assuming the older local transportation listing is unchanged.
