Understanding your result

How to read a TaxiRates fare result.

A TaxiRates result is tied to the verified rule for the pickup and route you entered. It is not a generic price-per-kilometre quote. Depending on the market, the result may use a regulated meter, a fixed airport fare, a zone, an approved tariff range or route-specific guidance. The result card explains which kind of rule was applied so you can tell why a number, range or guidance message appears.

If the page shows an estimate, treat it as a planning figure based on the published inputs available to TaxiRates. A live metered trip can still change with waiting time, traffic, stops or another lawful charge. A fixed fare remains fixed only when the trip satisfies the conditions of that published fare. When the underlying rule does not support the route, TaxiRates deliberately avoids filling the gap with an invented number.

Why changing the pickup can change the fare rule.

Taxi pricing is often directional. An airport may add an origin charge, a municipality may control trips that begin inside its boundary, or a regional market may use a different tariff from the city next door. That is why the same two endpoints can require a fresh calculation when you reverse them. Use the new-fare form on this page to change either address, date or time and run the trip again.

Exact addresses are useful around airports, municipal borders and large destinations. They give the route engine a clearer start and finish and reduce the risk of applying a rule to the wrong jurisdiction. If a result is a range, it usually reflects a verified regulatory range or multiple approved tariffs rather than uncertainty being hidden behind one average.

What TaxiRates verifies before showing a fare.

The platform separates published fare rules from sponsored transportation listings. A sponsor can appear as an alternative service, but sponsorship does not change the taxi calculation. TaxiRates also keeps unsupported extras out of the estimate unless they are part of the verified rule used for that market.

If a route returns guidance instead of a fare, check the market page linked from the result for the local limitation. You can then calculate another route, contact a local taxi provider for a quote, or compare a prearranged transportation option. The goal is to show what can be supported by the available fare rule and to make the boundary of that information clear.
