Québec uses one meter tariff for trips starting during the day and a higher tariff for trips starting at night. Taxes are included in the published components; a $1.05 Québec levy is added to each trip.

How the meter works

Time or distance, depending on vehicle speed.

The CTQ tariff uses the per-minute rate when the taxi is moving below the transition speed and the per-kilometre rate when it is moving faster. TaxiRates uses route distance and current traffic to show a practical estimate range rather than pretending to reproduce the physical meter exactly.

A trip starting at 10:59 p.m. uses the day tariff; a trip starting at 11:00 p.m. uses the night tariff.

02Low-speed time matters.

The meter changes from distance to time charging below the regulated transition speed.

Montréal–Trudeau Airport

YUL has its own downtown fare and minimums.

Between YUL and the defined downtown Montréal zone, the fare is fixed: $49.45 for daytime trip starts and $56.70 at night. Other YUL departures use the meter, with a published minimum of $21.65 by day or $24.75 at night.

YHU in Longueuil uses the standard Québec meter, not YUL’s flat airport rule.

MET – Montréal Metropolitan Airport opened its new commercial terminal in June 2026. TaxiRates now gives YHU a separate airport page and Longueuil calculator so users do not confuse it with Montréal–Trudeau. Supported YHU trips use the CTQ day/night meter plus the provincial levy.
