Municipal meter

Halifax taxis use regulated meter increments.

The schedule sets a $6.40 initial charge covering up to 142.8 metres, then $0.26 for each additional 142.8 metres or part thereof and $0.28 per 30 seconds of waiting. Each additional passenger is $0.80, while children under ten travel free when accompanied by an adult.

Halifax Stanfield publishes destination-based local airport car-service fares. Downtown Halifax is currently published as Zone 14 with the airport’s temporary $4 increase applied, producing a $72 airport-origin fare.
