How the meter works

Time or distance, not both at the same time.

The Québec meter uses distance when the vehicle is above the tariff’s transition speed and time when it is below that speed. TaxiRates uses the mapped route and traffic-aware estimate rather than simply adding full travel time on top of the per-kilometre charge.

Airport connection

Val-d’Or Regional Airport (YVO) uses the same provincial tariff.

YVO confirms taxis at the terminal and currently describes a trip to downtown Val-d’Or as about $15. TaxiRates still calculates from the regulated meter instead of treating that approximate figure as a fixed fare.
