Fort St. John is within the Peace River area of B.C. Passenger Transportation Region 5. The Passenger Transportation Board sets the legal fare band for metered taxis in the region, including minimum and maximum values for the flag, five-kilometre trip and hourly time rate.

Licensed taxi companies can choose an approved meter inside that band.
